HSO Shows Business Culture Causes Hurdles of IoT Advancements

The HSO have released a new study that has illustrated that 43% of manufacturing managers feel that the Internet of Things, or IoT solutions are critical for promoting the most successful engineering approach for the future. However, it is thought that there is a lack of digital culture required for there to be progress.

The stud consulted 250 respondents from this industry, and 31% feel that machine learning is critical for the implementation of predictive engineering. However, it is vital to make sure that the importance of these new technologies are understood, if not necessarily implemented to offer assistance.

It is thought that Manufacturers are significantly behind other industries in terms of digital transformation. When it comes to numbers, 26% of respondents have said that their business lacks a digital culture. Another 24% of respondents have said that there is a need for a greater level of technology infrastructure in their business in order to help advanced technology such as predictive engineering to be possible in the future.

Of those asked, 88% of managers in the manufacturing industry say that technology does play a significant role in the implementation of predictive engineering. The HSO have also commented that he frustration that is shown at the thought of not being able to keep up with competitors in palpable in respondents. The Senior Account Manager at HSO, Mark Breeden has said that it is interesting to uncover that more than a quarter of managers have said that they feel there is a lack of digital culture within their business, and this challenge could be prevented with the implementation of a range of new beneficial technology programmes.

The research that has been published by the HSO shows that manufacturing companies are missing out on the benefits of advancing technology, and the opportunities that it affords them because of the challenges that are faced in their businesses culture.
