SL Laser’s LaserPilot software sets new standards for the precise laser projection of 2D-based data onto flat surfaces. In addition to established formats such as NUM/ISO/G-Code, DXF, HPGL, and IGES, the software now also supports BTLx import. This enhancement makes LaserPilot even more powerful for laser projection in timber construction.
BTLx is an XML-based data format for exchanging machining and component information between timber construction software and manufacturing machines.
Direct Integration with CAD and CAM Systems
With direct connections to CAD and CAM systems such as AlphaCAM, Mastercam and NC-Hops, LaserPilot integrates seamlessly into modern production environments. Its customizable menu and flexible control area allow operators to tailor the interface to their individual workflows.
Everything can be adapted to suit specific requirements—from naming and grouping functions to resizing control buttons. LaserPilot can also be operated remotely when required.
BTLx: The Future of Seamless Data Transfer in Timber Construction
In modern timber frame, roof, log and timber house construction an efficient communication is essential between design software and saws, woodworking machines, panel processing systems, bridge and nailing machines and laser projection systems.
This is precisely where the BTLx format comes in. Developed through close cooperation between machine manufacturers and software developers, such as cadwork, BTLx provides a powerful standard interface for exchanging production data.
In collaboration with cadwork, SL Laser has also established BTLx for laser projection. Customers benefit from the straightforward integration of Pro Director laser systems—including the Pro Director 7, Pro Director 7 MR and Pro Director 7 LR—directly into their 3D CAD/CAM environment.
Entire construction projects can be exported from the design software to the laser projection system with almost just one click.
What Makes BTLx Special?
The BTLx format transfers more than the complete structural framework and its component numbers. It also includes panels from both, the outer and inner layers, together with nail lines and drill holes.
The system automatically detects different projection heights, ensuring accurate and time-saving implementation on the production floor.
The complete technical specification is provided by design2machine, the developer of the format.
