The Machine Vision Conference & Exhibition further enhanced its reputation as the UK’s leading machine vision and technology event with a hugely successful 2023 show. The confex hosted over 50 cutting-edge exhibitors and 40 expert seminar sessions. The hall at the CBS Arena in Coventry was buzzing with the latest industrial vision, imaging technologies and innovations, making it a fantastic visitor experience.
Established seven years ago, the annual MVC confex is widely recognised as the leading industry platform for machine vision technology worldwide, perfect for existing machine vision users and engineers as well as those new to the world of machine vision.
In an exciting development for 2023, the confex was, for the very first time, co-located alongside Automation UK, which is organised by the British Automation and Robot Association (BARA). This gave MVC visitors a brilliant opportunity to visit both events under one roof.
The annual MVC confex is organised by the UK Industrial Vision Association (UKIVA), the voice of the industrial vision industry. UKIVA guides and shapes the content of the event, promoting the use of image processing technology throughout UK industry, helping visitors to learn about impressive new processes and find out about the inventive new technologies designed to provide businesses with a much-desired competitive edge.
UKIVA and BARA are both members of Automate UK (formerly the PPMA Group of Associations). Automate UK is the trade body for automation suppliers and end users of technology across processing, packaging, robotics and machine vision. With over 500 member companies, Automate UK’s objective is to promote the use of automation in UK manufacturing whilst supporting its members to showcase and sell more products and services through Automate UK’s exhibitions, publications and training.
The outstanding seminar programme is always one of the highlights of the MVC confex, and this year’s was no different with a wide array of industry leading experts presenting on topics such as camera technology, optics, illumination, 3D vision, and vision in robotics. Speakers included Rajesh Lyengar of Lincode Labs Inc, Paul Wilson of Scorpion Vision, and Thomas Armspach-Young of Edmund Optics.
Max Varney, Experimental Specialist, Mercedes AMG F1, visited the show. He said: “Presentations were very industrial, different to other conferences I’ve been to previously which were much more academic.”
The MVC conference keynote speaker Jeff Burnstein, President of the Association for Advancing Automation (A3) provided visitors with a very informative insight into the machine vision market size in North America and current trends. He also shared a fascinating overview on today’s leading applications and future applications for vision.
In addition to the seminars, the visitors had a fantastic opportunity to experience live demonstrations ranging from industrial vision to imaging technologies and innovations as well as being able to visit and talk to leading companies that were showcasing their latest state-of-the-art innovative products, services and solutions.
Rob van der Spank, Sales Manager, FUJIIFLM Electronic Imaging Europe, exhibited at the 2023 event. He said: “I would definitely exhibit here, at this particular exhibition and you can really show your products.”
Another exhibitor, Douglas Bourne, Product and Application Manager, Gardasoft Vision Ltd commented: “All the leading players in machine vision are here, and it’s a really good networking place, a useful place to be.”
Building on the success of the 2023 confex, next year’s show promises to be a spectacular event and one not to be missed.
The 2024 MVC Conference and Exhibition will take place on 18-19 June at the Coventry Building Society Arena in Coventry.
