AST Showcases Full Range of High Density Plastic Containers, and Recycling Facility : The company will be sharing details of how they are supporting customers in meeting their environmental targets by reducing plastic waste as well as two new high-density polyethylene (HDPE) containers and a new model made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
AST has announced the opening of a new £4 million, a 70,000 sq ft recycling plant to help customers reuse and recycle their plastic containers. Containers can either be sent to our new site to be washed and returned or the material can be ground into granules and recycled into new containers. The new plant aims to recycle 6,000 tonnes of plastic in the first three years, all of which will be used to manufacture new HDPE containers.
The recycled HDPE containers are available in different weights and colours and come with a 38mm tamper-proof screw neck to protect contents. The containers are certified to contain a range of chemicals including those found in household detergents, gardening chemicals, pet care and various food stuffs.
AST’s 5- and 25-litre containers from its EST range will also be on display. Manufactured using 30% recycled polymer, the EST containers’ packaging sizes are inter-stackable to suit almost all customer requirements. A singular view stripe has been added to some sizes, which further enhances the appeal of this popular and reliable range.
Similarly, AST will be demonstrating its Square Round 20 and 25-litre bottles, which are perfectly suited for use on CP3/CP9 pallets thanks to their design, rigidity and strength. Customers will benefit from improved handling and usage, eco-friendly properties, maximum chemical resistance and two closure options: a screw cap or bung.
One CP9 pallet layer can hold 16 Square Round containers, while the container series, along with others, is manufactured to AST’s highest standard of quality, which ensures they are UN approved for food use and dangerous goods.
AST Plastic Containers’ range of 5, 10 & 20L AdBlue jerrycans will also be on display. This recyclable jerrycan has both environmental and cost-saving credentials which make it a very popular product with those transporting or using diesel.
The manufacturer’s senior team of experts will be on hand to ensure that all the attendees’ questions regarding AST’s products, best practice and recycling options are answered.
Matthias Hochholzer, AST Plastic Container’s UK Managing Director, commented, “Chem UK gives us the opportunity to demonstrate our superb range of products and share our latest recycling initiatives. We will have a full range of products to showcase and look forward to sharing how we are helping to create a greener future – something we are very passionate about at AST.”
