Kostal Kontakt System and Huber+Suhner Collaborate for Autonomous Driving Challenge

The leading suppliers of electrical and optical connectivity Huber+Suhner, and Kostal Kontakt Systeme have reached a framework agreement for a strategic collaboration which will have a focus on the technology fields of cables and contact/connector systems. Representatives for these two companies, Retro Bolt, the COO of the Huber+Suhner Radio Frequency Division, and Dr. Markus Bergholz, CEO of Kostal Kontakt Systeme GmbH have signed a Memorandum of Understanding and plan to work together to implement novel a range of solutions for the transmission of high data rates in cars, buses and commercial vehicles.

The collaboration that has been agreed between the two companies will focus on the cables and contract/ connector systems fields of technology. As a part of this agreement, Kostal will be bringing their many years of experience in the field of contact systems in the automotive market in order to offer an improved connection solution offering optimum customer benefits. Huber+Suhner will use their specialist skills as a developer and manufacturer of solutions for high-speed data communication and cable technology.

The strategic collaboration between the two companies has been formed in response to the increased demand for high performance data cables and connectors as one of the key technologies in autonomous driving. This is an ideal collaboration as Kostal is an innovative and globally active supplier of contact systems used in the automotive industry and the combination of skills with Kostal and Huber+Suhner will deliver a number of different benefits for their customers when looking for a solution to the challenges that are faced in terms of data transmission for the automobiles of the future.

Over the course of the next decade it is thought that autonomous driving will become a mega trend. With the development of this technology underway in order to meet the demand of this potential future market, the development of High-performance, radio frequency connectors and cables that are designed in order to meet the specifications of the automotive industry is a vital foundation for the creation of driver assistance system architectures.
