More companies than ever before will be presenting products and solutions in the field of electromobility at the upcoming Automechanika in Frankfurt, the leading industry platform for the automotive aftermarket, taking place from 10 to 14 September. They include manufacturers from China like BYD, SMART, the GEELY Group, AVATR, JIYUE, SERES, Chang An, HONGQI, GAC International and many more. This mirrors the rising demand for electric cars and new sales markets offering attractive new business opportunities for industry, workshops and dealers.
Olaf Mußhoff, Director Automechanika Frankfurt, explains: “Automechanika Frankfurt is the innovation platform where products and solutions for sustainable and zero emission mobility are presented. That is why we developed two new stage formats – Innovation4Mobility and Future Mobility Park – that have been attracting manufacturers like Genesis and Skoda since 2022 and showcasing all the topics associated with the transformation of the mobility industry. This year we are welcoming a remarkable number of manufacturers – including from China – who are offering cutting-edge electric vehicle products and technologies. As a result, our B2B visitors from industry, workshops and car dealerships can experience the full range of electric vehicle brands and an impressive display of automotive designs.”
Electromobility means more than just a new drive system. A market for software and electronic components has developed in parallel to the development of electromobility for autonomous, connected, electric and shared (ACES) vehicles. This market, which has recorded annual growth of 15 percent since 2020 and is expected to reach a volume of USD 469 billion by 2030, offers products for all vehicle categories. Software companies and manufacturers of electronic components are already well-represented at Automechanika Frankfurt: this innovative area alone accounts for over 150 exhibitors who will be presenting their products and solutions from the Electrics & Electronics and Connectivity & Autonomous Driving product groups. In all, over 400 of the companies who have already registered state that they have electric vehicle competence. In fact, 14 of these have submitted their products for the Automechanika Innovation Awards in the category Electromobility & innovative drive technologies.
In addition to this, Michael Johannes, Vice President Mobility & Logistics introduced a new event called ‘Electrical Vehicle Expo at Automechanika’ (EVA): “The range of products offered by the industry in the electromobility sector at Automechanika has increased enormously in the last two years, especially in China. Automechanika Shanghai, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary at the end of this year, is the perfect example of this. The fact that the ‘EVA Expo’ is taking place concurrently at Automechanika Frankfurt this year is a remarkable result of our Chinese colleagues’ exemplary efforts to expand their network. We can thank our partnership with CCPIT-Auto.”
Mr Wang Xia, Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Automotive Sub-council (CCPIT-Auto) gave the purpose of the EVA Expo: “Through launching EVA at this year’s Automechanika Frankfurt, we hope to provide European auto markets and industry professionals with an in-depth understanding of China’s rapid transition from a market dominated by traditional automobiles to the market in favor of electric vehicles. In particular, our goal also sets to further enhance the visibility and popularity of Chinese electric vehicle brands in overseas markets. By collective efforts, let’s contribute to the creation of a sustainable automotive ecosystem, promote mutually beneficial cooperation among enterprises, and facilitate win-win collaboration.”
Automechanika Frankfurt is taking place from 10 to 14 September 2024. In addition to EV themes, this year’s event will be focusing on sustainability, recruitment and further training, as well as the latest in accident repair and claims management. All exhibitors and visitors are invited to take advantage of networking areas devoted to the circular economy, remanufacturing, e-commerce and the classic car business, as well as a daily happy hour.
