Rubix Launches Fifth Annual ESG Report

Rubix Launches Fifth Annual ESG Report

Rubix, the European leader in industrial distribution, has published its ESG report for the 2024 financial year (1st January – 31st December).

A key achievement highlighted in the report is Rubix’s 2024 EcoVadis assessment, which awarded the company a Gold rating. Since then, it has been announced that Rubix has retained its Gold status in September 2025 with an improved score of 82 – four points higher than the previous year – placing it among the top two per cent of assessed companies worldwide.

Now in its fifth year, the report showcases Rubix’s continued progress in driving sustainable growth and its role in enabling customers to advance their own ESG ambitions. It reflects the company’s deeper integration of sustainability across its operations and the value it brings to European manufacturing industries.

A central focus of this year’s report is Rubix’s strengthened climate strategy. The industrial distributor has committed to a 58.8% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2034 (from a 2024 baseline). Rubix has also set a near-term target to reduce Scope 3 emissions by 35% by 2034, recognising the importance of engaging suppliers and customers to tackle emissions across the value chain. Both targets have recently been validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).

Progress is already underway: in 2024, 30% of Rubix’s electricity came from renewable sources, with the majority of sites in Germany, the Netherlands and Spain already powered by renewable electricity backed by renewable energy certificates (RECs). Solar panels have been installed in six countries across Europe, while building efficiency measures such as LED upgrades, heat pumps, and smart heating and cooling systems are reducing energy use. The industrial distributor is also taking steps to decarbonise its fleet, with EVs now representing 8% of vehicles and around 30% classified as lower-emission.

Introducing the report, Group CEO Franck Voisin said: “This year’s update reflects the progress we’ve made in embedding sustainability across our operations and in how we support our customers to improve their own performance.

“As a leading MRO distributor, we play a critical role in enabling profitability, productivity, quality and resilience for our customers, while also supporting their ESG ambitions – whether that’s reducing waste, lowering energy consumption, improving workplace safety or tackling carbon emissions. This dual focus of improving our own impact while strengthening customer outcomes is reflected in the trusted partnerships we’ve built across the value chain.”

Building on this, the report also introduces the Rubix Uptime Index – a new benchmark for the health of European manufacturing. Launched in June 2025 with an inaugural score of 74, the Index tracks confidence across areas such as maintenance needs, investment appetite, access to spare parts, workforce availability and predictive maintenance.

The report also reflects the work led by Elvin Ozensoy, Group Head of Sustainability, who is focused on strengthening Rubix’s ESG agenda and ensuring measurable results.

Commenting on the report, Elvin said: “Our fifth ESG report marks a significant step forward in the maturity of our sustainability programme. While we’re proud to have been recognised again with EcoVadis Gold, what stands out most this year is our progress in strengthening data governance and climate targets. Accurate, cross-functional data is one of the biggest challenges in sustainability, and we’ve made real strides – laying the foundations for better reporting, stronger decisions, and greater impact, thanks to the commitment of our people.”

The report also details progress in climate disclosures under the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).
