Family-owned since its launch in 1976, JK Foods is one of the UK’s leading importers and distributors of authentic East Asian foods, supplying restaurants, takeaways, retailers, and wholesalers. With sustainability already a core value of the business, JK Foods has taken steps to embed eco-friendly practices into its operations—from responsible packaging choices to exploring ways to reduce its overall carbon footprint.
Looking to go further, the company turned its attention to energy use. Keen to minimise electricity consumption and adopt greener solutions, JK Foods began investigating solar energy. After considering various providers, they chose Geo Green Power to install a solar PV system and battery storage solution.
Honesty and Transparency
According to Facilities Manager Andrew Thomson, JK Foods selected Geo Green Power based on our honest, transparent approach and excellent customer service throughout the consultation process. The team also took the time to speak with several of our previous clients, all of whom gave positive feedback and recommended our services.
“The team were great from start to finish,” Andrew said. “Nothing was too much trouble, and they were open and upfront throughout the entire process.”
The installation included a 309kWp solar PV system paired with an 87kWh battery. This system is expected to generate around 260,500kWh of clean electricity each year and cut carbon emissions by approximately 65 tonnes annually equivalent to removing 13 petrol cars from the road.
Positive results – solar saves money
JK Foods is already seeing positive results. “The systems are working well and we’re already seeing a higher-than-expected return, even during the less sunny months,” Andrew added.
By taking this step, JK Foods continues to lead by example, proving that long-term sustainability can go hand in hand with smart business decisions.
