Mechanical Machining Knows No Compromise with EMCO Mecof ECOMILL PLUS HPC3

Mecof Open Days 2025

The fact that different machine models were present at the Mecof Open Days 2025, but could be used in the same sector, spoke volumes about the expertise and capabilities of the Mecof team in guiding customers towards the most suitable solution in terms of space, required performance, removal capacity, level of automation and connectivity. In fact, the Ecomill Plus was delivered in Italy for the general mechanical engineering sector.

The right dimensions for optimal operating capacity

With working strokes of 8,000 mm on the X-axis, 1,600 mm on the Y-axis and 3,000 mm on the Z-axis, the milling machine offered an impressive operating space, ideal for machining large and complex components.

The PL15II worktable, measuring 9,000 × 2,500 mm and with a load capacity of 15,000 kg/m², allowed for the secure clamping of heavy and large workpieces, while maintaining flatness standards in accordance with class II of DIN 876.

Universal bi-rotary head: the technological heart of the machine

A distinctive feature of this Ecomill Plus HPC3 was the universal bi-rotary head with automatic millesimal positioning. Its characteristics were:

  • Power: 38 kW
  • Torque: 1,000 Nm
  • Speed: 6,000 rpm
  • Tool attachment: BIG PLUS

The provision for automatic head change guaranteed further flexibility for the customer, making the machine suitable for a wide range of chip removal processes and opening up new processing possibilities with the addition of a future milling head more suited to new challenges.

Numerical control, connectivity and tool management

Configured with Heidenhain TNC 640 HSCI CNC and the Industry 4.0 package, it offered features that ensured more streamlined, integrated and connected production management. The tool change system with a 60-position chain magazine and an exchange arm fixed to the column allowed tool changes with the spindle in a horizontal position, reducing downtime and increasing productivity. In addition, the HR550FS wireless pushbutton panel and the Renishaw RMP60 radio probe facilitated setup and quality control operations directly on the machine.

Cooling and chip management

The Ecomill Plus HPC3 was equipped with a dual coolant delivery cooling system:

  • 6 bar / 28 l/min via collectors and adjustable rigid nozzles
  • 40 bar / 20 l/min through the spindle, for tools with a central hole (DIN 69871/A)

The system had 1,000-litre tanks with double filtration (60 µm and 30 µm), ensuring efficient fluid management and long tool life. The chip conveyor completed the system, ensuring continuity, order and cleanliness in the working environment. Mecof’s ECOMILL milling machines offered proven reliability and supported Industry 5.0 thanks to options such as full fairing, laser tool presetting systems, and digital connectivity. The EMCO Mecof service network was always available to support every stage of the machine’s life cycle, from initial configuration to maintenance.

A strategic investment for customers in the general engineering sector

Thanks to its combination of generous dimensions, high precision, advanced automation and digital connectivity, the Ecomill Plus HPC3 was an ideal choice for general engineering companies looking to increase their competitiveness and productivity. It was a machine designed for the future: robust, intelligent and ready to meet the challenges of modern production.
