Hawsons has advised Century Plastics Ltd to acquire Able Canopies Ltd, a UK-based specialist in designing, manufacturing, and installing high-quality canopy and shelter solutions. The deal marks a significant expansion of Century Plastics’ UK footprint and supports its strategic focus on strengthening its offering across the construction and architectural sectors.
Century Plastics Ltd, established in 1992, is the trade and distribution arm for Palram Industries, a leading global manufacturer of semi-finished, extruded thermoplastic sheets, panel systems, and finished products. The acquisition of Able Canopies brings a well-respected brand and technical capability into the group, enhancing its ability to serve clients in the education, commercial, healthcare, and public sectors.
Established in 2005, Able Canopies Ltd has built a strong reputation for delivering bespoke outdoor structures, including canopies, walkways, shelters and shade sails, and associated services such as groundworks and external furniture installation.
Jack Parker, Corporate Finance Manager at Hawsons, commented:
“This transaction brings together two highly complementary businesses. Able Canopies adds technical depth and sector experience to Century Plastics’ growing UK operation, and we are pleased to have supported this important step in their strategic growth journey. Having advised Palram group companies on a number of acquisitions in recent years, it’s a relationship we value highly.”
Hawsons acted as lead adviser to Century Plastics Ltd on the buy-side, supporting the process from initial evaluation to completion, including preparing financial and tax due diligence. The transaction also drew on the international reach of HLB International, the global advisory network of which Hawsons is a member, enabling the team to deliver informed insight.
Omri Jakobovitz, Director of Century Plastics Ltd and CEO of Palram TradePro BU, added:
“Bringing Able Canopies into our group supports our mission to offer high-quality, customised solutions to clients across the UK. Hawsons provided exceptional support throughout the process. Their understanding of our business and technical and commercial insight played a key role in completing the deal efficiently.”
Sandip Khroud (Partner) and Rebecca Bennett (Legal Director) of Hill Dickinson LLP provided legal advice for Century Plastics Ltd.
The global canopy market continues to grow steadily, driven by increased demand for permanent outdoor structures in public and commercial environments. According to Grand View Research, the sector was valued at USD 1.90 billion in 2022 and is expected to reach USD 2.5 billion by 2030, with a projected CAGR of 3.4%. Century Plastics’ latest acquisition positions it well to take advantage of this upward trend.
