BCMPA Champions Outsourcing Benefits at ChemUK Expo

BCMPA Champions Outsourcing Benefits at ChemUK Expo : The British Contract Manufacturers and Packers Association (BCMPA) celebrated the success of the inaugural CHEMUK Expo held on 1st – 2nd May, with large numbers of visitors to its stand learning about the extensive benefits and capabilities of outsourcing services within the chemical sector.

With requirements for services ranging from decanting from bulk to small packs to more complex applications such as formulating, blending and product development, demand for specialist outsourcing within the chemical industry is increasingly varied.

“The core benefit of contract tollers, manufacturers and packers is that they are set up to provide a service that businesses either do not have the capacity for in-house, or the time to do themselves,” commented, Rodney Steel BCMPA Chief Executive.

“Our members understand the demands of the chemical sector, from the importance of each client’s brand, to the complexity of the supply chain and the challenging timescales they operate within. It is this knowledge that combines with the production capability and capacity to deliver the cost-effective range of services that can be tailored to each client’s particular demands. We have seen a significant increase in chemical enquiries coming in since the show.”

The BCMPA was accompanied at the show by exhibiting members; Grotech Production, contract manufacturers in the general and agrochemicals sectors, and Libra Speciality Chemicals, experts in surfactants and specialist chemicals.

As part of the seminar programme at the exhibition, Rodney Steel and Martin Usher, Managing Director of Grotech Production, gave a comprehensive overview of exactly how contract manufacturers provide support to chemicals businesses. A key message of the presentation was that any company can benefit from working with an outsourcing partner regardless of their size or capabilities.

“Our business is to respond to needs whether it is the requirement to deliver a product quickly or to produce something a firm is unable to make themselves,” explained Martin during his seminar presentation. “As a contract manufacturer our fixed costs of production are smaller, we have the production capacity available and we have experience in many different processes.”

CHEMUK Expo was the first trade show for the UK chemicals industry since 2010 and sold out before Christmas. Held at the Yorkshire Event Centre, the show attracted over 170 exhibitors and 2000 visitors over two days and its success has already led to CHEMUK 2020 moving to the larger capacity Event City venue in Manchester on 13th-14th May.
