A-Gas Hosts Side Event at OEWG

Lifecycle Refrigerant Management

A-Gas, a world leader in Lifecycle Refrigerant Management (LRM), proudly participated in and supported the Open-Ended Working Group (OEWG) meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Monday the 8th –12th of July in Montreal Canada. A-Gas hosted a side event to showcase the positive environmental outcomes that can be achieved through increased refrigerant recovery, reclamation for re-use, and the destruction of legacy refrigerants. The presentation also focused on some of the pertinent obstacles and challenges facing A5 parties and industry stakeholders in accessing practical LRM solutions. A-Gas is a pioneer in Lifecycle Refrigerant Management (LRM), offering a comprehensive circular solution that recovers harmful refrigerant gases during service and at equipment end of life, preventing their release into the atmosphere. The company’s dedication to refrigerant circularity supports industry globally. In 2023 alone, A-Gas’ LRM global activities abated approximately 8.9 million tons of CO2e, which can be expressed as the equivalent of removing 1.8 million petrol/diesel cars from the road.

“Our participation at the OEWG underlines our commitment to supporting the goals of the Montreal Protocol; having the opportunity to engage in such a big-ticket item discussion during the side event and in the margins with interested parties and stakeholders was encouraging,” said Elvira Nigido, A-Gas Group Sustainability Compliance Manager. “Lifecycle Refrigerant Management not only prevents emissions of ozone depleting and or high global warming gases to the atmosphere; it provides a critical steppingstone helping to bridge the time and expense gap for organizations to make the necessary investment into equipment using lower global warming refrigerant alternatives; which is crucial in achieving a sustainable future. A-Gas is dedicated to working with Parties and refrigerant stakeholders across the globe to support their sustainability goals and mandates through tailored LRM efforts.”

A-Gas’ approach is a testament to the potential of the circular economy, ensuring that refrigerants are recovered, reclaimed, and reused rather than being released into the atmosphere. This not only secures the continued supply of reclaimed refrigerants but also supports the transition to lower GWP products, contributing significantly to global emission reduction efforts.
