Telent Secures Sandwell Council Contract

Sandwell Council’s traffic signal network has awarded a four-year contract to telent Technology Services Ltd, a leading UK technology and network services company, to provide maintenance services. The deal sees the company retain its decade-long contract with Sandwell, for whom the company has provided maintenance services since January 2008.

The contract includes the maintenance of 109 Traffic Signal Junctions, 174 Pedestrian Crossings and 8 Journey Time Monitoring Cameras and it will offer continuous benefits to the residents of Sandwell, including the creation of employment opportunities and the sourcing of suppliers from the local community. In addition, as a result of the team’s assets, variety of equipment and familiarity with the area, it is in a prime position to deliver premium services and ensure all contract KPIs are met.

Worth up to £2 million, teh renewed contract was secured via a highly competitive tendering process. telent demonstrated its experience and thorough understanding of Sandwell Council’s needs in its answers to the tender questions to secure the deal.

telent has seen a successful year so far, securing a number of contracts in the traffic sector. Prior to securing the Sandwell contract, the company was awarded a four-year contract to supply and maintain traffic signal and related ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) equipment for Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

In February, telent also secured a five-year Oxfordshire County Council contract, comprising the supply, installation and maintenance of signalling equipment and associated ITS on-street solutions countywide. Due to its demonstrative knowledge of the traffic management field and proven ability to promptly provide solutions, the company continues to grow and support new and existing clients in the traffic sector.
