Range Rover Evoque Reaches Five Year Production Milestone

Range Rover Evoque Reaches Five Year Production Milestone

The Range Rover Evoque has reached the five year production milestone at Jaguar Land Rover’s advanced manufacturing site close to Liverpool.

The Evoque is Land Rover’s biggest sales success story having sold over half a million worldwide in more than 180 countries over the last five years.

The model is manufactured at the 24 hour Halewood plant and is also the fastest selling Land Rover ever produced with one in four Land Rovers sold throughout the world last year being an Evoque.

Since the first vehicle came off the production line in July 2011, sales of the model have gone up five times from just more than 22,000 in 2011 to over 108,000 last year, meaning that a new Evoque rolls off the production line every 170 seconds.

Along with the increase in the number of vehicles produced, the company’s workforce has also trebled to over 4,000, around 1,500 of which have been brought in specifically to support the launch of the record breaking Evoque in 2011.

The last five years have seen employees clock up over three million night shift hours, while some 1.7 billion Evoque parts have been fitted in the Trim and Final assembly area, with parts travelling over 2.5 million miles on the conveyor system.

Associate at Jaguar Land Rover, Ash Milburn, commented that the success of the Range Rover Evoque has brought about a number of positive changes to the Halewood manufacturing site and has contributed significantly to the success of Jaguar Land Rover, along with bringing a boost to the wider automotive sector in the UK.

Operations Director at Jaguar Land Rover, Richard Else commented: During my 25 years at Jaguar Land Rover it has been the last five years that have been the most eventful, exciting and rewarding. The impact which Evoque has made to our business and to Halewood is nothing short of transformational.
