“For National Manufacturing Day this year MEM was very proud to attend The North East Automotive Alliance’s (NEAA) flagship Expo, an industry highlight for companies operating within the region’s automotive supply chain, which took place for an eighth year on Thursday 28 September at the Beacon of Light in Sunderland. My thanks to Laura Gage for working with me directly and for making me so welcome on the day. The 2023 event was very well attended and it was fantastic to hear from Michael Jude, HR Director, Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK. You can see a picture of him speaking at the event.

With skills becoming an ever-increasing challenge across the sector, this year’s Expo put a spotlight on this topic, together with a continued focus on innovation and technology and the technology showcase was placed in the centre of the Exhibition Hall where there was a series of demonstrations across the day. The event was very well attended, and it provides a great opportunity to hear about the North East automotive sector, meet the excellent companies based in the region and see the new technology from global players I spoke with directly such as BALLUFF, TR FASTENINGS and of course MIR.

MEM will be producing a full review in our next issue of the magazine which will be at the London EV Show in our role as MEDIA PARTNERS. I particularly liked the food and drinks being made available for all delegates at no additional cost.
