Knorr-Bremse Sells SafetyDirect in North America

SafetyDirect

Knorr-Bremse announced the sale of its SafetyDirect®  product line, portal and operations to Rand McNally. Rand McNally, a TELEO Capital  Management, LLC portfolio company, is a provider of innovative fleet management and  transportation solutions.

The sale – finalized March 7, 2024 – represents another step forward in Knorr-Bremse’s  active portfolio optimization, which prioritizes core competencies and performance.

Bernd Spies, Member of the Executive Board of Knorr-Bremse AG and responsible for the  Commercial Vehicle Systems division, notes that: “With the sale of our SafetyDirect product  line, we’re continuing the successful optimization of our Truck division’s portfolio. Bendix, our  North American subsidiary, will focus even more intensively on its range of core  competencies, including braking, steering, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS),  going forward. In Rand McNally, we have found an ideal buyer for SafetyDirect, who will be  able to further develop and fully leverage its potential in the future.”

SafetyDirect provides fleet operators with comprehensive feedback on their fleet and drivers,  along with videos of severe events. Using data from Bendix ADAS, SafetyDirect gives fleets  key insights into common driving behaviors and trends across their operations. Rand McNally  will continue to offer integrated data from Bendix braking and driver assistance systems as  part of SafetyDirect, further expanding sales opportunities with customers of both companies.

For Knorr-Bremse, the divestment of SafetyDirect is another step forward for the company’s  BOOST 2026 program (Knorr-Bremse Operational Optimization Strategy and  Transformation). Over the next few years, Knorr-Bremse aims to achieve sustainable,  profitable growth through a series of strategic initiatives and measures. Bendix will receive  an equity stake in and an observer seat on the Board of Directors of Rand McNally. After the  sale, Bendix will provide marketing, data, and product integration support to Rand McNally,  helping to enable a cohesive, coordinated approach for optimized customer solutions.
