Vehicle manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover has appointed BAM Construction to build it a new multi-storey car park adjoining its Jaguar plant at Castle Bromwich.
The 59,000 sqm car park is on a site off Kingsbury Road formerly occupied by the Showcase multiplex cinema, which JLR purchased three years ago in order to knock down and create the space it needed for the expansion of the car plant.
The new facility will provide 2,764 spaces for staff and production vehicle parking.
The car park will be handed over in multiple phases matching car production requirements in the adjacent facilities.
JLR recently announced a £100m investment into Castle Bromwich as it looks to slowly repatriate production of the Jaguar XE to the plant from nearby Lode Lane; this will free up capacity at the Land Rover plant for production of the Jaguar F-Pace crossover â which is already the marques fastest selling model.
The car park is part of a wider development at the site which also includes two new warehouses and storage buildings, which will support the expanded production operation.
The car park construction scheme employs piled foundations with pads, with Bourne Parking providing the steel frame with concrete planks, pre-cast stair cores and cladding.
Jay Roberts is the project manager for BAM having worked on many fast-tracked Midlands projects for BAM. Ridge and Partners are the architect and structural engineer. Mace is the quantity surveyor.
The project being is overseen for JLR by AME (Advanced Manufacturing Engineering) Construction.
BAMâs Contracts Manager Jon Kiteley said: The Jaguar Land Rover brand is very prestigious so itâs a special success for the region. Weâre currently working at Three Snowhill and Tata Technologies, so we have some impressive commercial partners to complement a leading education portfolio across the West Midlands.
