West Atlantic Upgrades Operations with Panasonic Toughpads

West Atlantic, a European cargo airline are upgrading their operations in order to hopefully transform the work of the aviation crew. The airline company have announced that they will be upgrading their technology by providing Panasonic Toughpad FZ-G1 rugged tablets to the aviation crew.

Previously, the crew had to rely on pen and paper in order to keep a track of the logistics services and operations carried out by the company. The provision of a more advanced recording and management system should allow the crew at West Atlantic to work more efficiently and gain a better overview of the work being carried out by the company.

The Panasonic Toughpad that has been provided to the crew has been approved for Electronic Flight Bag use in the aviation industry, which will be utilised by West Atlantic. The Toughpad will save time for the crew and offer a user friendly storage of important and relevant information as well as a comprehensive overview, as all of the relevant information that was on pieces of paper in the past will be together on the Toughpad.

West Atlantic will be supplying enough Toughpads in order to ensure that there are two tablets per aircraft. These tablets will be for each of the two pilots on each plane. The tablet will replace all of the paper based information usually carried by pilots including the aircraft operating menu, the flight-crew operating manual and a range of navigational charts. The Electronic Flight Bag can also host a range of purpose-built software applications which will be used to automate a range of functions that have previously been carried out by hand such as performance take-off calculations.

This new technological solution has been chosen in part for its sturdiness, and ability to cope with the rough conditions of use. The units could be frequently dropped during loading and unloading as well as enduring transportation conditions. The Toughpad is robust and will offer a technological upgrade while also ensuring that the technology is not easily damaged.
