In 2026 NEMA Ltd, the Rochdale based manufacturer of electro-mechanical assemblies, springs and pressed parts for aerospace applications, celebrates its 70th year of production and looks to the future with the introduction of a new arm of the business, NEMA Systems Ltd. So, what initiated this exciting new development and what does it bring to the industry?
Making Integrated Systems a reality
Whilst NEMA Ltd have manufactured motors and actuators for aerospace applications for over 2 decades, NEMA Systems brings a symbiotic unification of motor and control system design and manufacture under one roof, offering several advantages:
> Lower Cost.
> Greater Control.
> Higher reliability.
> Stronger Performance.
Integrated Packages Done Right
This ability to regulate both elements of a system ensures a relationship between motor and controller from day one, eliminating traditional development barriers:
Thermal Management – Where motor and power electronics are typically designed by different entities, unmanaged heat often increases the potential risk of failure; our integrated approach ensures heat is managed across the system from the very inception of design.
Electromagnetic Compatibility – Poorly matched motors and controllers create electrical noise, with the potential to disrupt signalling and communication systems; carefully considered system-level pairing from the outset forms a critical part of our integrated design.
System Optimisation – The smallest motor and convertor do not guarantee the best system, with unforeseen complexity resulting in bulkier systems and “add-ons”, ultimately compromising performance; the vision of a complete package from initiation allows us to form a system fully realised and optimised for the environment of application.
Seasoned Proficiency You Can Count On
At each stage of development, we engage our established team of scientific and industrial experts, assembled from our parent organisations, comprising:
NEMA Ltd – a mature company of 70 years, specialising in the design and manufacture of electrical motors, actuators, springs and pressed parts.
The University of Nottingham – A world renowned team, with a deeply rooted scientific understanding of each component that comprises the electromechanical systems.
Ultema Consultancy Ltd – Offering over 35 years of industry expertise in commercial delivery and qualification of flight critical systems.
