The first development works at the Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) terminal building have been revealed, with everything running as scheduled following the investment of over £2.5 million. Many enhancements have already been put into place ahead of schedule, including a full transformation of the entrance to LBA!
The new developments to the entrance have included the removal of offices to enable increased circulation space between the two check-in halls, as well as the completion of the new flooring and the installation of brand new glass windows. Passengers will soon be able access departures much quicker than previously too thanks to the extra security lane which is expected soon, with the Saltaire bar expansion also heading to the departures lounge.
These are transformational projects across all areas of LBA, which will make a huge positive difference to the passenger experience, commented Sophie Murr, the Head of Projects at Leeds Bradford Airport. All contractors on site are working 24 hours a day and are undertaking tasks with minimum disruption to passengers. Itâs been fantastic to unveil some of the works already and we look forward to moving forward with all other developments in a timely manner to deliver an updated and more spacious terminal for customers in 2017.
The departure lounge will also be welcoming the addition of a new seating area for passengers thanks to a 6,450 sq ft first floor extension, and according to LBAâs CEO John Parkin the passengers are already beginning to notice the changes, which includes a full refurbishment of the toilets and new car park buses that are already in operation.
Parkin stated that the completed upgrades as well as the developments expected for completion in the summer are critical to the airportâs ability to deliver the very best service and experience for passengers, so it is exciting times for LBA!
