For decades, Farsound has been known across the global aerospace industry as a specialist in the supply of parts for aero engines. Now, as the company celebrates its 40th anniversary, it is taking that expertise into a new area of the aircraft with a move into airframe parts.

The expansion marks an important development for Farsound, enabling the company to support a wider range of requirements for aerospace customers worldwide.

Founded in 1986, Farsound has developed extensive experience supporting demanding aerospace programmes. Its capabilities encompass sourcing, supplier management, inventory, quality and logistics, backed by an international presence across key aerospace markets.

The move will build on this established infrastructure while creating a dedicated airframe capability focused on availability, responsiveness and complex supply chain management.

From aero engines to the wider aircraft

Farsound’s international reputation has historically been closely associated with the aero engine market.

Working within this demanding area of aerospace requires stringent quality standards, full traceability, carefully managed inventories and dependable delivery performance. These capabilities provide a strong foundation for expansion into the airframe market.

Farsound will apply its experience to a broader range of aircraft parts while retaining aero engine parts as a core part of its business. Customers will be able to place a wider range of requirements with an established aerospace partner and benefit from the same specialist approach developed over four decades.

Investing in availability

A central part of Farsound’s airframe strategy will be investment in inventory and further development of its supplier network.

For aerospace manufacturers, securing the right parts at the right time is critical to maintaining production schedules and managing increasingly complex programmes. Strategic inventory, effective supplier management and responsive sourcing can help reduce disruption and provide greater certainty.

Farsound intends to use these capabilities to improve part availability, reduce supply chain risk and help customers manage total cost more effectively.

The company will also expand its supplier network to support airframe requirements, creating opportunities to work with new organisations and programmes alongside its established customer base.

Julien Touzain, Group Head of Airframe at Farsound, said:

“Farsound has built an international reputation for its expertise in aero engine parts, and we now have a significant opportunity to bring that experience to the global airframe market.

“Our ambition is not simply to add airframe parts to our portfolio. We are building a dedicated capability focused on availability, responsiveness and supply chain intelligence, investing in inventory and developing our supplier network to reduce risk and total cost for our customers.

“This is an important area of growth for Farsound and will enable us to support a broader range of customer requirements.”

Supporting customers worldwide

Farsound’s international footprint will play an important role in developing its airframe business.

Modern aerospace programmes span multiple countries, manufacturing locations and suppliers. Farsound’s presence in major aerospace regions enables it to combine regional knowledge with international sourcing capabilities and remain close to customers and suppliers.

This provides a platform for developing the airframe business across different markets and supporting requirements wherever customers operate.

Curtis Pump, President of Farsound Aviation Inc., added:

“Farsound’s expansion into airframe parts creates opportunities across our global business. Aerospace customers are looking for experienced partners that understand complex component requirements and can provide consistent support across international supply chains.

“From the Americas to Europe and Asia, our presence puts us in a strong position to support customers in key aerospace markets. The move into airframe parts gives us new opportunities to build on the relationships Farsound has developed over many years.”

The next stage for Farsound

The move comes as Farsound marks four decades in aerospace.

During that time, aircraft technology has advanced, manufacturing has become increasingly international and the networks supporting major programmes have grown more complex. Farsound has evolved alongside these changes while maintaining its specialist aerospace focus.

Moving into airframe parts represents the next stage of that development. It allows Farsound to enter its fifth decade with a broader proposition for the aerospace market, combining the specialist knowledge on which it built its reputation with investment in inventory, supplier development and a dedicated airframe capability.

For a company long recognised for its aero engine parts expertise, airframe parts represent an important new chapter in Farsound’s growth.
