A number of members of the Aerospace Defence Security Group Limited (ADS) have explained to their employees that a vote to remain in the European Union will be best for business.
Among the group’s members who are actively supporting the remain campaign are Rolls Royce, MBDA, GKN, Bombardier, BAE Systems and Airbus.
Among the reasons cited by these organisations for supporting the remain campaign are: securing investment in UK R&D, skills and supply chains, exerting UK influence over the regulations and standards that shape the country’s industries and maintenance of the UK’s access to EU suppliers and customers without red tape and tariffs.
A recent survey revealed that 70% of ADS members believe that a vote for the UK to remain in the EU will be better for their business.
ADS Group CEO, Paul Everitt, said that in the remaining days before the referendum, they hope that all UK businesses encourage their employees to use their vote wisely and give them sufficient time to do so.
He added that they are also urging them to communicate the benefits of Britain remaining in the UK to their staff, in particular the benefits to their employees and their business.
However, his primary concern was that all employees need to be properly informed about the importance of the national decision regardless of how they vote.
Meanwhile, earlier in the week top bosses including car industry executives, the Premier League chair and Sir Richard Branson have backed the remain campaign ahead of this Thursday’s vote.
Branson warned that a Brexit vote would have ‘devastating’ consequences for the long term prosperity of the UK.
However, chair of the ‘Vote Leave’ business council, John Longworth, refuted these suggestions and insisted that UK businesses would be better off out of the EU.
He argued that under Brexit we would see the removal of external barriers, while reducing the cost of clothing and footwear.
