Kelmore: A Rising Star In The Industry

Founded by the Kelly family, Kelmore is an award-winning UK manufacturer of products for the tiling and flooring industries. Family run and owned, the organisation is a rapidly growing player in the market for primers, damp proof membranes, levelling compounds, tile adhesives, grouts and silicone, and waterproofing products. We’ll take a closer look at the organisation and how exactly the company has made a name for itself in the industry so quickly.

Kelmore’s operations are backed by a state-of-the-art, automated production plant and an expansive wealth of expertise across the whole business with a growing team of 72; and moreover, Kelmore continues to expand this infrastructure, with recent developments including the establishment of a second laboratory (doubling R&D and QC capacity), installation of a sophisticated first-in first-out racking system (holding 980 pallets), the addition of its own in-house logistics and transport service, and consequently experiencing an amazing 37% growth in output (and 45.5% in revenue) across this January and May alone. To say the least, it’s been a busy two years.

Offering a little insight into the investments made and just how committed the Kelly family has been to the growth of Kelmore to-date, we spoke with Mark Kelly, Managing Director of Kelmore, who explained:

“Investment and strategy have been at the heart of Kelmore’s growth story from day one. From the outset, we have made significant investments to create the business and develop our purpose-built, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility which spans 50,000sq ft. Designed with the future firmly in mind, we created the site with the right capacity, infrastructure and operational flexibility needed to support significant growth and increasing customer demand. By future-proofing the facility from the beginning, we have been able to scale efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality, service and innovation. This long-term commitment to investment has provided strong foundations for sustainable growth as we look to deliver our ambitious plans for the years ahead.” 

Yet, how has Kelmore been able to sustain such growth? While we are sure there are a number of answers to this question, the most evident is that of the firm’s track record in developing high-performance products available at the right price with strong customer relationships backed by excellent customer service and technical support.

Their commitment to sustainability has not gone unnoticed as part of their continued investments in R&D. Formulations that contain far lower cement levels than industry standard, their unique industry-first pouch packaging (80% less plastic than the traditionally used jerrycan with huge space saving benefits), and now the process of obtaining EPDs, have been very well received.

Underpinning their firm focus on R&D is Kelmore’s expansive team of chemists and technical experts, tasked with advancing product performance and sustainability. Yet, not only does each team member across the business bring many years of experience to the table, but this is backed by an engaging, empowering, family-oriented focus, that has led to a profound culture that consistently seeks to raise the bar in all areas. The approach certainly seems to be working, and demand for their products speaks for itself.

The future also looks incredibly bright for Kelmore, especially as it comes off the back of what is set to be circa 43% overall growth on Y2 in 2026. Investment will continue across the business with a wave of recruitment, continued innovation in product development and systems, coupled with a focus on cementing the brand in the industry.
