Interior Fit-Out Specialist Edgewater To Create New Jobs In Manufacturing

Investment is key to strong business development and growth. It’s also a risk. Yet, success breeds confidence and that, in turn, heightens ambition. Edgewater, the interior fit-out company based in County-Antrim, has experienced the sort of confidence that makes a £1m investment seem like good business. And you’d be hard-pressed to argue with them. Indeed, the company is putting £1m into overhauling its manufacturing facility as part of a rebrand which will see the business create 11 new jobs.

Seamus Murray, the managing director at Edgewater, acknowledges the efforts of the workforce and management over the last few years to help Edgewater develop its presence in the sector. Its confident growth in the last few months had put it in the sort of position prime for further development. Murray says the business has tried hard to raise its profile in the last three years, developing relationships off the back of some high-profile clients such as hotel chains Hilton and Jurys. The company has also carried out work for Maldron and Clayton, while its refurbishment expertise has been showcased at the Killarney-based five-star establishment Abhadoe Heights Hotel.

The managing director says it is now about building upon its recent success by “strengthening” both the management team and the manufacturing facility. This will enable it to offer a “complete service” to its clients that considers the entire holistic process from design to completion.

The company’s success has been recognised by enterprise minister Jonathan Bell who said he was confident Edgewater would fulfil its potential to grow export sales to the the tune of £40m within a year and a half. Its £1m investment will create the infrastructure to make this happen. He also noted the higher-than-average salaries on offer from the new jobs created – another major positive to come out of Edgewater’s impressive success in recent years. Contributing more than £400,000 to the local economy was “excellent news” for the “manufacturing sector”, he added.
