Covers' Electric Forklift Trucks Delivered by Manufacturer Doosan

Covers Timber and Builders Merchants is a family owned timber and builders merchants that works through a network of thirteen different branch locations across the South of England. The company has a history that goes back more than 170 years, with the business well-known for their service, reliability and work to supply customers with essential building materials such as timber, paint, bricks and blocks The company has an expansive range of more than 25,000 product lines, ensuring that there is a wide range of products for customers to choose from.

The focus on customer service is important to Covers, therefore they have always invested in their fleet, with more than one hundred diesel forklift trucks. This makes sure that the yard duties like the loading and unloading of lorries are carried out reliably and with the best possible efficiency. The forklifts used by the timber and builders merchants were manufactured by Doosan. The forklift manufacturer most recently supplied their client with the Doosan B30X-7 3-tonne electric counterbalance truck was ordered in 2015 and after a successful trial period with the truck, a second was ordered. These vehicles are now in use at Covers’ main branch located in Chichester. The company has seen significant improvements, which has led to a shift in the type of trucks that they expect when specifying their future needs.

There was an environmental reasoning behind the purchase of the electric forklifts and there has been huge energy cost savings in comparison to the other diesel trucks used by the company. The electric forklift truck costs around 29p per hour whereas the diesel vehicle costs £2.30. Cover’s is an environmentally friendly company and wanted a new vehicle that has been manufactured to the highest environmental standards while also meeting the timber and builder’s merchant’s needs in the yard.

It is thought that the forklift truck that has been supplied by Doosan, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of forklift trucks, will last for seven years. Less that the projected ten-year life span of the diesel truck, but working out cheaper with the energy savings and lower servicing costs accounted for.
