Morgan Sindall Progresses On Essex School

Significant progression for the completion of the new £15.4 million special educational needs school in Essex has made big strides, as construction and infrastructure specialists Morgan Sindall have announced that they have begun working on the building’s timber frame structure.

Glenwood School is expected to be completed in 2017, and is being constructed for Essex City Council in order to provide efficient support for over 200 local children and adults who suffer from severe and multiple learning difficulties.

We’re very pleased to be celebrating this key milestone at Glenwood School said Gavin Napper, the Area Director at Morgan Sindall. The project team is committed to delivering a truly inspirational space where young people with special educational needs can really enjoy and feel safe and secure. The school includes a number of outstanding facilities and will provide the very best support and learning opportunities for those individuals.

The school is set to include as many as 26 classrooms of good size, as well as quality facilities that will be specially designed to cater to students’ specific and sensory needs such as swing therapy rooms and trampoline rooms which are proven to aid body awareness, organisation of the senses and postural control.

A hydrotherapy pool will also be included in this state of the art school, as well as an independent living area facility which will be built in order to encourage adequate preparation for adulthood for some of the older students that will be studying at the school. Projection imagery will be used in the living area which will create various forms of environmental simulation within the immersive room.

This work by Morgan Sindall is showing very promising signs, and upon completion next year will be providing an outstanding service to locals who struggle due to learning difficulties.
