Guildford Cricket Club, one of the largest cricket clubs in the county of Surrey, is set for a £1.6 million refurbishment project on the existing pavilion which will be carried out by local construction company ‘Beard’ who have signed on the dotted line.

The pavilion was built in 1938, and this significant upgrade will introduce many modern aspects including a brand new space designed specifically for special events and new changing rooms for the players which will both be connected to the viewing balcony.

This scheme will upgrade one of Guildford’s best-loved clubs, providing modern new facilities which everyone will be able to access and enjoy said Beard Guilford’s contracts manager, Trevor Smallpiece. We are pleased to be working with Guilford Borough Council on this fantastic new building refurbishment which is due for completion in July next year.

The new designs for the pavilion have ensured that the layout of the pavilion is wheelchair-accessible, with lifts available to the upper floors making it possible for a person in a wheelchair to access the newly built second floor external seating area, meeting room and bar.

The project, which will also include a ground floor lobby, has allowed Guildford Borough Council and Surrey CCC to work together closely with assistance from London-based architecture company Rolfe Judd.

This is a tremendously exciting project added Robert Charles, the chairman of Guildford Cricket Club. The new pavilion will make Woodbridge Road into a super cricket ground, worthy of hosting first class and top-level club cricket. It will also be a fantastic facility for the local community.

The new pavilion is expected to be completed at some point in 2017, and it is an exciting prospect for both the cricketers and fans alike as they await the new facilities.
