Watlow to Present at Semicon Europa’s Fab Management Forum

Watlow to Present at Semicon Europa’s Fab Management Forum

Industrial technology company, Watlow, has announced it will be speaking at Semicon Europa’s Fab Management Forum on Wednesday 15 November 2023. Taking place at 2:35 PM (CET) at the Messe in Munich, the speech will discuss the importance of electric thermal solutions in reducing the footprint of semiconductor manufacturing.

A report from Greenpeace revealed that semiconductor manufacturing is projected to emit 86 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) globally by 2030.

Energy intensive sectors like semiconductor manufacturing are under pressure to decarbonise. At this year’s Semicon Europa, Watlow will take to the stage to present at the Fab Management Forum. The presentation, titled Watlow’s approach towards energy efficiency and achieving net-zero, will be held by Blake Parkinson, Director of Gas Delivery Business Segment at Watlow.

Parkinson will discuss Watlow’s approach towards achieving net-zero through electrical thermal solutions, such as sensors, controllers and heaters, painting the picture of how these products can enable faster progress for companiesaiming to reduce their energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

“Semiconductors are vital components for automotive, medical equipment and appliances, but the manufacturing of these chips comes with a hidden cost,” explains Blake Parkinson. “They are energy intensive to manufacture and as a result, can produce a high volume of CO2 emissions.

“The industry must learn how to manufacture more sustainably by adopting sustainable, long-term strategies. But this is a practice that must infiltrate the entire manufacturing supply chain. And this is where electric thermal solutions lend a hand.

“As a supplier to many of the world’s leading companies, Watlow is committed to supporting our customers’ journey to net-zero. Using unique raw materials, computer-aided simulations and advanced power control technology, we can ensure high accuracy and reliability in the heat treatment we provide. In fact, this has been proven to reduce power output by ten per cent. When scaled to fab-level consumption, this provides meaningful support to our worldwide journey to net zero emissions,” continued Parkinson.

Semicon Europa will be held at the Messe in Munich from November 14 — 17 2023. To attend Watlow’s speech, head to room 14a on November 15 at 2:35 PM (CET) local time. To learn more about Watlow’s solutions for decarbonisation, visit watlow.com
