Luceco Lighting at Newbury International Produce

Newbury

Luceco were asked to provide a comprehensive lighting solution at the new premises of Newbury International Produce in Hazel Park, Ledbury, to completely redevelop the space with the help of Adi Group.

The new state of the art facility boasts full end-to-end automation to ensure flexibility and efficiency, providing specialist frozen goods including packaged fruit and smoothie mixes to suppliers.

Sustainability at the source

Over the 19 years since it was established, Newbury International Produce has created strong relationships with growers worldwide. It has been able to sustain the ever-changing requirements of the food industry, including climate change and sustainability, to become one of Europe’s leading suppliers of food ingredients into the UK manufacturing industry.

Sustainability was a key factor throughout the redesign process, including lighting design and installation.

Working with Adi Group, Luceco created a sustainable LED lighting solution that included its Contour luminaires, Platinum Pendants and Darklights, and Ceres high bays.

The lighting installation was carried out by Adi Group, which provide engineering services to a variety of industries including food and beverage manufacturing.

Energy efficient facilities

Lighting was required in various areas of the building, including office and circulation spaces, warehouses, and storage rooms.

In the office spaces, Luceco’s Contour luminaires were used to create attractively lit environments whilst offering occupant friendly lighting. The Contour lighting range consists of connectable modules that can be surface mounted, suspended or recessed, forming highly effective, contemporary, decorative illumination.

Platinum Pendants and Darklights were used to accompany the suspended contour luminaires, offering a recessed high performance low glare downlight with unique swing tab design that allows for quick and easy installation.

In the warehouse and storage circulation areas, Luceco chose to use its Ceres high bays and Climate Extra IP65 linear luminaires. Ceres high bays are surface or suspension mounted high level luminaires, with an IK10 rating and over 100,000 hours of operational life, making it the ideal lighting solution or industrial and warehousing applications.

Thomas Francis, Project Manager at Luceco, said: “The environment and climate change are both ever increasing obstacles in the food industry, so energy efficient facilities were a key priority, as well as long lasting, fit for purpose lighting and fittings.

“Such an environmentally focused business required energy efficient lighting, not only to reduce running costs and carbon footprint, but also to help meet the return on investment and pave the way to a sustainable future for the business.”
