Kingsley Beverage Invest £36m to Build First European Manufacturing Plant in UK

South African drinks manufacturer Kingsley Beverage is investing £36m to build a new 150,000 sq ft manufacturing plant near Peterborough.

The plant will be the first in Europe for the international company, whoalready have sever factories in Africa and the Middle East. The company produce and distribute a rance of carbonated soft drinks, fruit juices, energy drinks, and bottled water.

The factility is to feature manufacturing as well as warehouse and office space, and will be developed by Roxhill Developments. A planning permission application has been submitted to the Peterborough City Council, and it is hoped that construction will start later this month.

Details regarding the numbers of new jobs to be created have not yet been released.

Kingsley Beverage is currently setting up its UK and European operations from a temporary premises, which is in Orton Southgate, also in Peterborough. They will remain there until the new premises at Peterborough Gateway are ready for use.

The company has been represented by commercial agents Savills to secure the build deal for its first factory in Europe.

Philip Nieman is the managing director elect for Kingsley Beverage. He said, Kingsley has seen exponential volume growth since its inception in 2007. This growth has accelerated in its home market of South Africa, together with exports into Africa and expansion into the Middle East over the last four years. Kingsley is confident that a similar growth opportunity exists in the UK, hence the decision to invest in a modern, state of the are manufacturing facility.

The deal is particularly significant given that it has been completed since the EU referendum, and will bring significant inward investment to the area as well as creating a number of new jobs.
