The Burger Manufacturing Company Opens New Facility

The Burger Manufacturing Company has announced the opening of their new beef burger manufacturing facility. The new site is located in Llanelwedd, Builth Wells in mid-Wales. The manufacturing facility has been created with a £4 million investment from The Burger Manufacturing Company.

The facility has been opened by the Welsh First Minister Carwyn Jones. The business produces in excess of 37.5 million burgers every year. By moving their operations to the new purpose built unit from a nearby facility previously used by the company. The expectation is that this new site will allow the business to develop new gourmet burgers for their customers, who include restaurants and take-away businesses.

In order to complete the work on the new manufacturing facility, The Burger Manufacturing Company has received a 40% grant from the Food Business Investment Scheme. A further investment was also granted from the Welsh Government of £1.4 million as a part of the Welsh Government Rural Communities- Rural Development Programme 2014-2020. This development programme is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development alongside the Welsh Government. The company is vital for contributing to the local economy in Powys therefore it’s great news that a new facility has been created in the local area. This new beef burger manufacturing facility will also create a number of new jobs, as the business looks to use the new site to expand and diversify their operations with the planned new gourmet burger ranges.

A large number of rural Welsh businesses are a vital part of the country’s economic drive, and it is essential that the right support and funding is given to these companies in order to ensure that they can successfully grow and thrive. The investment into The Burger Manufacturing Company will also deliver great benefits to the food and farming sectors.
