The industrial enclosure manufacturer Spelsberg has released a new design for unrestricted outdoor use and tough industrial environments. The new Abox Pro provides high impact resistance plus protection against water, heat, and sunlight. The durable housing can secure electrical junctions, distribution, and terminals. Multiple cable entry knock-out holes with seals for a range of cable diameters, combined with a choice of enclosure sizes, makes Abox Pro flexible and simple to install and use.
The new, extreme-use enclosure from Spelsberg features up to IP69 protection, preventing the ingress of dust as well as high-pressure water jets. This is supported by IK09 impact resistance, enabling the Abox Pro to withstand the equivalent impact of 5kg dropped from 200mm. Able to protect against a broad temperature range for extreme environments, Abox Pro is tested to operate in conditions down to -35°C and as high as 80°C. Manufactured from polycarbonate, this high-performance material also achieves 100% UV-resistance yet it is also light weight, making the enclosures easy to handle and install.
The high level of environmental protection for extreme environments means that Abox Pro can be installed in harsh industrial settings as well as unprotected outdoor areas. Supported by DNV certification, with testing relevant to the shipping and maritime sector, Abox Pro is ideal for use onboard boats and within harbour settings, and its polycarbonate construction also removes the risk of corrosion. This factor also makes Abox Pro ideal for use in agricultural environments, supported by DLG certification that relates to the enclosure’s ammonia resistance capabilities. Confirming the wider structural integrity and manufacturing standards of Abox Pro, the enclosure also meets the stringent German VDE mark.
The flexible range covers a variety of application requirements, and Abox Pro is available in a range of sizes, from 92 x 92 x 60 mm up to 252 x 202 x 120 mm, and they are available in grey or black colours. The junction boxes are offered as a standard enclosure without terminals, as well as integrated options including push-in terminals for rigid conductors, screwless terminals for rigid and flexible conductors, and screw terminals for rigid and flexible conductors with wire-end ferrules. The enclosures are available in various voltage ratings up to 1,000V.
For flexible installation, the enclosures feature multiple knock-out holes, giving options over cable entry/exit points, and a variety of membrane seals are also provided to suit various cable sizes. Additional features to speed up installation include easy alignment of the box with a centre marking, sturdy external fixing lugs and a mast mounting kit. For the most challenging environments, the Abox Pro is the perfect choice.
