Nokiaâs new smartphones are to be fitted with light sensitive graphene sensors, which will be made by Taiwanese device manufacturer Foxconn.
Last month it was reported that Nokia will be launching two new smartphones in the near future and the company has already handed out a manufacturing contract to Foxconn.
The Taiwanese firm will reportedly manufacture two 5.5 inch and 5.2 inch phones later in the year which will feature IP68 rating and Snapdragon 820 chips.
The new Nokia phones will be the manufacturerâs first devices after the conclusion of a contractual embargo imposed by Microsoft and Gizmo China has reported that the new phones will also feature camera sensors manufactured using Graphene material.
Recently, researchers at Singaporeâs Nanyang Technological University claimed that camera sensors made of Graphene were 1,000 times more sensitive to light in comparison with the standard CMOS camera sensors used in their phones, as well as being five times less expensive to make.
Therefore, it is possible that Nokia will look at bringing in camera sensors which will have the ability to capture high quality images in both low light and bright sunlight conditions, which may be an improvement on the current industry standard.
The two new smartphones will run the recently launched Android Nougat with Nokiaâs own Z launcher interface.
The phones will feature 5.5 inch and 5.2 inch Quad HD displays and will arrive with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoCs, Adreno 530 GPUs and IP68 dustproof and waterproof ratings.
Rumours are suggesting that instead of launching a mid-range device, Nokia will go âall outâ to challenge premium smartphones and phablets with its impressive design, features and specifications.
The success of the phones will also depend on how Nokia will price the phones in different regions, particularly in the UK where OnePlus was recently forced to hike prices of the OnePlus 3 following Brexit.
