Autrix – Enabling Automation With Operational Alignment

Let’s cut to the chase. By now, everybody knows that automation is critical to the future of warehousing and logistics, not just for logistics specialists, but for anybody moving, shifting, lumping, bumping, storing, or transacting some form of stock. Yet, while this agreement is made across organisations of all shapes and sizes, the volume of successful automation implementations don’t match industry expectation, with many organisations experiencing challenges in automating or simply buckling under the weight of the required technical expertise to do so.

So what’s the problem and how can organisations overcome these challenges? As Autrix explains it, it’s a simple case of too many cooks in the kitchen. Indeed, while the general industry agreement is that automation is the future, far too many organisations slip into the pitfall of leaping into project discovery before consulting the market, and instead relying on often vague industry insight or internal discussions to assess how and where automation can be applied. What this leads to is an integration bottleneck, with organisations chasing automation which touches on areas that are not operationally aligned for automation and thus failing to deliver a unified automated system. Moreover, aligning those systems mid-way can prove incredibly costly in both time and money.

This is where Autrix comes in. Helping businesses both small and large to move beyond manual workarounds and disconnected systems, Autrix combines expansive automation expertise and cross-sector experience with smart technology to enable automation from the outset and guide automation projects through their complete delivery. Perhaps the most important component is that one-stop-shop approach, with Autrix not simply delivering the robotics and software in-house (though this certainly forms part of the package), but also providing consultative guidance on operational alignment prior to project discovery and therefore ensuring that automation systems are tailored to the specialist requirements of a given client.

To achieve this, Autrix prioritises early engagement as a fundamental requirement if automation is to be implemented to its maximum potential. In doing so, Autrix is able to cut through much of the internal noise and discussion, ensure operational alignment, and give organisations the best footing to start their automation journey on, as designed by automation experts. Furthermore, by streamlining decision making within operations, Autrix is able to remove much of the typical friction in automation roll-outs, streamline training and open up immediate scalability.

Joe Daft, Managing Director of Autrix explained: “Some businesses come to us explaining that they need to automate, or that they have a problem, and we engage with them, but it seems very clear that they have done their own research into automation and how it works. That’s great, but often they aren’t aligned internally for any of these projects to succeed. That could easily be resolved if they came to us beforehand and discussed how automation could fit into their business regardless of type or solution, before actually going into project discovery. But also, the bigger the organisation, the harder that alignment piece can be, and it’s typically only the SMEs where you can immediately talk to the Managing Director and sign-off on things to move forward and make those gains.”

And with respect to aviation and aerospace, we know all too well that the industry is going through a seismic shift, with costs, processes, and regulation changing by the second. For those organisations wishing to stay ahead of the curve, now is the time to take automation seriously, but it has to be done correctly.
