Dream Big Documentary Gives Engineering the Recognition it Deserves

Math and Science are creative subjects that require innovation, imagination and dedication. For anyone who thinks otherwise the Dream Big: Engineering Our World documentary could be the thing to change their mind.

Dream Big explores the natural connection between construction and inspiration to reveal the joy an engineer unleashes when they discover new ways to make our world a healthier, safer and stronger place to live.

A 70-millimetre camera lens gives a first world perspective to really uncover the beauty of engineering alongside the beauty of our world. The film was shot in Laguna Beach and was produced by McGillivray Freeman Films who specialise in documentaries designed for IMAX screening.

It took three years to film and the challenge they set was to make science and engineering interesting, creative and fun to a wide audience, including children. Better yet this was seen as an opportunity to inspire students to consider a career in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

The documentary is funded by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and Bechtel Corporation. Oscar Winning Jeff Bridges is the narrator taking us on a wild journey form the heights of the international space station to the depths of eight-foot swimming pools.

The film premiered on February 26th so be sure to keep an eye out for the documentary that appreciates engineering and combines it with an outstanding perspective on the planet.
