The Explorer Group Sees Sales Rise by £20m

Motorhome and caravan manufacturer ‘The Explorer Group’, based in County Durham, has seen its sales go up by over £20 million, with a growth in the company’s market share despite uncertainty within the industry.

The firm was founded in 1964 and currently manufactures four brands at its County Durham headquarters – Buccaneer, Xplor, Compass and Elddis.

The firm’s products are sold by retailers throughout the UK as well as Australia, New Zealand and the Netherlands.

For the year up to December 31, 2015, The Explorer Group reported an £85.5 million turnover, a significant increase from £62.9 million the previous year. Pre-tax profit also increased by £276,895 to £2.42 million.

The Explorer Group state in a strategic report accompanying the results that last year the business gained further growth in its market share, supported by its dealer network expanding.

The report continued: However, while the total market was shown some recovery, uncertainty remains within the industry.

“Therefore, the company seeks to maintain its production flexibility in order, so that it can respond to long-term market changes and fluctuations.”

The Explorer Group also outlined that it has made significant investments in its development and design resources, with company directors staying confident that it remains “well placed to take advantage of its opportunities and manage its business risks successfully.

Last month, The Explorer Group Limited announced the appointment of two senior positions; Spencer Davies was promoted to the role of Sales Director, while Angela Robson was promoted to the role of Customer Services Director.

The company explained that both Davies and Robson have both been crucial to the company’s development and delivery for the past few years.

Included in Robson’s role was overseen extensive retailer training in SoLiD Construction for aftersales, advising the Group’s approved retailer network in accident repair for fully-bonded vehicles.

Meanwhile, Davies has witnessed first-hand the increase in demand for SoLiD construction motorhomes and the retailer network’s assurance in and appetite for these SoLiD leisure vehicles.
