AB Glass Awarded £2 Million Contract

Children have been welcomed to a new school in Neath Port Talbot, developed in partnership with aluminium manufacturing and installation company AB Glass.

The Swansea-based company played a significant role in the development of Ysgol Bae Baglan — dubbed a £40 million ‘super school’, with around 1,500 pupils. It was awarded a £2 million contract to supply windows, doors and curtain walling, providing full design, manufacturing and installation services.

The project for AB Glass began in March last year, and installation was completed in February. It included various high-end aluminium products, such as thermally broken curtain wall screens, thermally broken top-hung windows, thermally broken doors and heavy-duty doors (not thermally broken).

A spokesman said: The multiple aluminium products included in the project mean that the windows and doors are incredibly strong and weather-proof, need very little maintenance and are also extremely energy-efficient.

Alan Brayley, managing director of AB Glass, said: We are really pleased with the outcome of the Ysgol Bae Baglan project; it’s wonderful to see the children making a start at a brand-new school that we’ve contributed to.

The multiple aluminium products are top quality, so that the school will have many years of reliable use, and the project was handed over to the local council three weeks early.
