Downstream Leadership Forum Seeks to Create Smarter, More Resilient, and Sustainable Downstream Business Strategies

Reuters Events is connecting more than 30 downstream leaders and 5,000 industry representatives this November to investigate how the sector can deliver value through uncertainty.

The virtual Downstream Leadership Forum on November 19 and 20 will feature speakers such as Dow chairman and CEO Jim Fitterling, Chemours president and CEO Mark Vergnano and Shell downstream director Huibert Vigeveno.

It will aim to help futureproof the downstream sector after what can best be described as a tumultuous year, tainted by falling demand and a dampened outlook for oil and gas in general.

“We’re committed to providing a platform to collectively overcome challenges created by global economic uncertainty, growing environmental and social responsibilities, and a world that demands more,” said Bridget Robinson, global project director for the Downstream Leadership Forum.

Registration for the Downstream Leadership Forum is open and attendees can choose between a free learning pass or pay a premium for a professional pass that includes access to the Forum’s exclusive networking platform, live and on-demand content and more. The event’s two-day agenda will focus on four key themes:

  • Creating value in the new normal as existing value drivers encounter growing headwinds and the need grows to identify opportunities through developments in integrated operations, application development, effective research and development and advanced generation fuels and products.
  • Embracing sustainable operations for a net-zero future, with the industry facing increasing accountability for ensuring operations are environmentally sound, circular and community focused.
  • Unpicking the economic outlook to mitigate the risk of unpredictability and create a clear path to success with the most complete and comprehensive market forecasts the industry has to offer.
  • Building a resilient business model to overcome the combination of an unprecedented demand shock, a supply glut, and a looming global recession.

Billed as ‘the Davos of downstream’, the Downstream Leadership Forum speaker lineup also includes Arab Petroleum Investment Corp CEO Dr Ahmed Ali Attiga, Credit Suisse’s Chairman of Global Energy Osmar Abib and BlackRock’s Head of Global Energy & Power Mark Florian, among other industry leaders.

This virtual event is scheduled for November 19 and 20, 2020. For more information, visit reutersevents.com/events/downstream-strategies or write to sasha.marks@reutersevents.com.
