Nordell Win ‘Big’ At Sussex Business Awards

World-class plastic injection moulding & manufacturing company, Nordell, is celebrating after a momentous win at the Sussex Business Awards. The Worthing-based team were announced winners of the ‘Large Business of the Year’ award.

Speaking immediately afterwards, Managing Director Paul Mason said: “I could not be prouder! This is very much an award for our team – each member works so hard and is dedicated to our vision and our goals. We honestly couldn’t have won it without them all. What a fantastic end to the year for them and the business.”

It has certainly been a busy time for Nordell. A year ago, the company had over 60 employees working Monday to Friday. Today, that number has increased to more than 190 employees working across four shifts.

As well as that, Nordell recently underwent a factory change programme that saw them add 300m2 of Cleanroom solutions. This has allowed the company to manufacture products under completely ‘clean’ conditions, ideal for pharmaceutical and medical equipment.

Paul says they’ve had to learn to adapt to new ways of working: “Like many companies, we have had to learn to adapt quickly throughout the pandemic. There have been some big changes and everyone from the senior management team down has responded brilliantly to the challenges.

“That’s why I feel so proud that our team have been rewarded. I’d like to thank the independent panel of judges for their kind words on the night and to also congratulate all the other finalists. It was a fantastic evening, and we’ll look forward to next year’s.”

The Sussex Business Awards offer a unique opportunity to showcase the best innovators, leaders and entrepreneurs in the county. The prestigious annual awards ceremony – which celebrates 32 years in 2021 – was held at The Grand Brighton on Thursday evening (2 December).

This year saw a record-breaking number of nominations for each category, with hundreds of applicants whittled down to 75 finalists. The black-tie event was hosted by comedian Zoe Lyons whose television credits include appearances on Mock the Week, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, The Paul O’Grady Show and The Wright Stuff.

As well as winning Large Business of the Year, Nordell was also shortlisted for Overall Business of the Year.
