NEC Conference Reveals Event Line-up for 2022

NEC, the construction industry’s leading procurement contract provider, has announced the keynote speakers taking the stage at its annual conference this year.

Taking place on 16 June, NEC contract users will have the option to attend the virtual or in-person event, which presents a unique opportunity for attendees to hear insight from government and NEC industry experts and about upcoming projects.

The conference will include talks from keynote speakers across government and industry, provide an update on NEC’s new Net Zero Secondary Option, as well as give attendees the opportunity to network and engage with industry peers and pioneers.

The agenda for this year’s event – taking place at London’s historic One Great George Street building – will feature presentations on how the effective use of NEC can deliver better, greener project solutions which support the UK’s 2050 net zero target and showcase examples of NEC being used around the world.

The event agenda includes:

  • An introduction from Rudi Klein, President , NEC Users’ Group
  • A keynote address from Mark Thurston, CEO, HS2 Ltd
  • A talk on NEC & The Construction Playbook by Shy Jackson, Partner, Construction Disputes
  • Introduction to NEC’s new secondary Option X29 tacking climate change in construction by Ian Heaphy, NEC4 Contract Board and Director, IN Construction Consulting
  • A review on the NEC FM Contract: A year on, by Chris Jeffers, Director and Head of Facility Management Advisory, Mott MacDonald
  • An introduction to The New Hospital Programme, Emma-Jane Houghton, Commercial Director, New Hospital Programme at Cabinet Office
  • And a summary on NEC: What’s Next? – by Peter Higgins, NEC4 Contract Board Chair and Director, pdConsult

The presentations will be followed by engaging and interactive workshop sessions in the afternoon, providing practical advice on using NEC contracts for reducing emissions and early contractor involvement.

The event concludes with the ever-popular annual awards, which have been renamed the Martin Barnes Awards, in tribute to the ‘father of NEC’ who passed away in February this year.
