NDI Annual Conference- North East Manufacturers Urged to Attend

North East defence, space and manufacturers are being urged to attend the NDI Annual Conference next month on October 13.

The event will showcase how innovation is shaping the needs of future customers and growth opportunities in such sectors.

The ‘Growth Through Innovation’ conference will be held over two days in Coventry and will bring together a line-up of speakers from a range of companies including BAE Systems, Axilium, Marshall, Rolls Royce, Raytheon and Thales, as well as the UK Government.

Among the topics covered by the speakers on the first day of the event will be cyber security, support for defence exports, current UK naval programmes, competitiveness, ways to exploit dual-use technology and how to work together to deliver capability and value to the UK.

There will also be a range of specialist interactive breakout sessions on cyber security, the Space Applications Centre and dual use technology.

Regional Director for EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation in the North East, Liz Mayes, commented: We would urge North East manufacturers to attend this event, there are some great opportunities within defence that are ready to be exploited.

We know the region already has many strengths in this sector and this conference gives us a chance to build those.

Meanwhile, Director of NDI, Andy Collier, said that this will be a unique opportunity for companies to hear from those working at the forefront of their sector about the significant number of opportunities and challenges they face.

Collier added that along with learning about best practice and new technologies, the event will also help to identify and build relationships with new business partners, customers and suppliers.
