iCandy Receives Queen's Award for Enterprise in International Trade

Pushchair manufacturing firm iCandy has received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade, presented by HM Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, Helen Nellis.

Nellis praised the Biggleswade based firm as leading the world in ground breaking technology and design.

The company was names as a recipient of one of the UK’s most prestigious awards for business performance in a global market that sees one of their products sold every 12 seconds.

The growing demand for iCandy products has enabled the business to create 65 jobs.

Nellis presented the company with a crystal engraved bowl and a certificate of Her Majesty’s Warrant, signed by the Queen and former Prime Minster David Cameron.

Nellis commented: iCandy have an outstanding track record of success over many years and a dedicated, talented and creative workforce who are leading the world in ground-breaking technology and design.

It is fantastic that they have chosen Bedfordshire as their global headquarters and I wish them every success in the future.

Joint chief executive and founder Bradley Appel paid tribute to the hard work of iCandy’s staff, stating that this Queen’s Award shows that luxury British products are in such high demands throughout the world.

He said that now more than ever it is important for the UK to maximise its export opportunities, while at the same time supporting and promoting Great British brands.

Appel added: In the 1960s there was an ‘I’m Backing Britain’ campaign and we fully believe in that sentiment as much today. Getting behind and believing in British brands ourselves can only serve to promote Brand Britain globally.

Meanwhile, Anglia Print, based in Beccles, was recognised in the Sustainable Development category of this year’s Queen’s Awards.

Anglia Print, which was founded in 1978 by Mr Popely’s father, Fred, is one of only 12 printing companies in the UK to hold EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) registration.
