The Empire State Building Heading to Materials 2017…

The famous Empire State Building is set to make an appearance at the Materials 2017 event later this year, in the shape of an impressive five-metre high replica which will serve as part of Metsa Wood’s exhibition. The model is made completely from wood and is part of the company’s ‘Plan B’ project, created by Canadian architect Michael Green of MGA.

Metsa Wood provides its premium quality wood products to its construction, industrial and distribution customers, and the business’s key strength is the industrial efficiency that is consistently delivered with commitment, reliability and quality. When the company exhibits at Materials 2017, it will be demonstrating the affinity of timber in creating large, tall structures typically reserved for heavier materials such as steel and concrete.

The team will be hoping that the model of the Empire State Building will attract plenty of attention at this year’s event, as it attempts to battle the misconceptions surrounding the use of timber in creating solid, durable and safe structures. Timber has also proven to be beneficial in terms of its environmental sustainability and fire safety performance, so could this exhibition at Materials 2017 be a wakeup call for many industry professionals who have maybe been sceptical about its uses?

Materials 2017 will be held at the ILEC Conference Centre in London on the 25th and 26th April, and it will prove to be a one-stop destination for all things construction material related. There will be plenty of interesting exhibitions on show across the two days, including of course the Empire State Building model displayed by Metsa Wood.

There is still time to get involved if you haven’t thought about doing so already, and for anybody involved in construction materials then this is sure to be an unmissable event with plenty on show for all attending!
