The famous Empire State Building is set to make an appearance at the Materials 2017 event later this year, in the shape of an impressive five-metre high replica which will serve as part of Metsa Woodâs exhibition. The model is made completely from wood and is part of the companyâs âPlan Bâ project, created by Canadian architect Michael Green of MGA.

When the company exhibits at Materials 2017, it will be demonstrating the affinity of timber in creating large, tall structures typically reserved for heavier materials such as steel and concrete.
The team will be hoping that the model of the Empire State Building will attract plenty of attention at this yearâs event, as it attempts to battle the misconceptions surrounding the use of timber in creating solid, durable and safe structures. Timber has also proven to be beneficial in terms of its environmental sustainability and fire safety performance, so could this exhibition at Materials 2017 be a wakeup call for many industry professionals who have maybe been sceptical about its uses?
Materials 2017 will be held at the ILEC Conference Centre in London on the 25th and 26th April, and it will prove to be a one-stop destination for all things construction material related. There will be plenty of interesting exhibitions on show across the two days, including of course the Empire State Building model displayed by Metsa Wood.
