ALFED Supports Inaugural Aluminium Outlook 26 Conference

ALFED supports inaugural  Aluminium Outlook 26

The Aluminium Federation (ALFED) is delighted to announce its support for the inaugural  Aluminium Outlook 26 conference, a major new international forum hosted by Aluminium  International Today dedicated to shaping the future of the aluminium industry. The one-day event will  take place on Tuesday 17 February 2026 at the Business Design Centre in London, bringing together  senior industry leaders, policymakers, investors, and customers to address the key challenges and  opportunities facing the sector.

Aluminium Outlook 26 is designed around the themes of Outlook, Policy, and Markets, offering  delegates the chance to engage with expert perspectives on macroeconomic trends, regulatory  developments, sustainability imperatives, and the evolving dynamics of global supply chains. With  aluminium now recognised as a critical and growth mineral in government’s strategy, the event will  provide a strategic space to explore how this recognition can be translated into real-world growth and  competitive advantage.

Why Attend Aluminium Outlook 26?

This first-ever forum will offer a comprehensive programme of discussions and insights across  multiple high-impact topics, including:

Market Outlook: Global and regional aluminium market trends, forecasts and the influence  of macroeconomic drivers on supply and demand.

Scrap Metals: What current and future developments in the EU and UK mean for scrap  supply, quality and utilisation at a time when secondary aluminium is increasingly central to  sustainability and circular economy goals.

Trade Policy & CBAM: Key next steps in the implementation of the Carbon Border  Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and related regulatory changes – crucial for businesses  trading across borders in 2026 and beyond.

Sustainability & Net Zero: Pathways to decarbonisation, circular economy solutions and the  role of aluminium recycling in meeting net zero commitments.

Supply Chain Resilience: Examining how policy, logistics and investment decisions are  impacting the resilience and security of the aluminium value chain.

Skills & Talent Development: Addressing the sector’s need for new technical and digital  skills, stronger talent pipelines and enhanced pathways into the industry for early-career  professionals.

Attendees will have the opportunity to network with peers and experts from leading organisations  across the aluminium ecosystem, including producers, recyclers, processors, traders, policy  influencers, and downstream users.

ALFED’s Role and Speaking Contribution

ALFED is proud to be an association partner for Aluminium Outlook 26, reflecting its ongoing  commitment to promoting innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness in the UK aluminium  industry. ALFED champions its members by engaging directly with policymakers, advocating for fair  market conditions, and supporting strategic research and industry development.

At the event, Rachel Wiffen, ALFED’s Industry & Skills Development Manager, will present a  dedicated session exploring the UK’s aluminium scrap landscape – a topic with significant strategic  importance as the industry seeks to strengthen domestic supply chains and reduce reliance on exports.

Her presentation will cover:

The UK’s scrap aluminium story – understanding current flows, market dynamics and  supply challenges.

Why increasing domestic demand for aluminium scrap is now a strategic priority – considering economic, sustainability and policy drivers.

How ALFED is working through the UK Aluminium Alliance to:

o Strengthen UK scrap utilisation

o Support decarbonisation of the aluminium value chain

o Improve resilience, security of supply and circularity within the UK market

Rachel’s session will give delegates a clear view of the policy, industry and market actions required to  unlock greater domestic value from UK-generated aluminium scrap and help drive a more circular,  resilient sector.
