ALFED House of Lords Lunch

ALFED House of Lords Lunch

The Aluminium Federation (ALFED) will bring together ALFED members along with policymakers  and senior industry figures from across the aluminium value chain at its House of Lords Lunch in Westminster, London on Thursday 2 June 2026, for a discussion focused on delivering domestic demand, trade resilience and long-term industrial capability for the UK aluminium sector.

ALFED is pleased to confirm that Chris McDonald MP, Minister for Industry, will be joining the  lunch to open the event and engage directly with representatives from across the aluminium sector.  His attendance provides a timely opportunity for industry to engage with Government at a senior level  and to feed directly into discussions around industrial strategy, trade resilience and strengthening  domestic capability.

The event forms part of ALFED’s ongoing work through the UK Aluminium Alliance, which aims to  strengthen UK aluminium demand, improve scrap retention and utilisation, and build greater  resilience across domestic and international trade relationships to support a secure, circular supply  chain.

As the UK looks to deliver major defence, infrastructure, construction and net zero ambitions,  aluminium has an increasingly critical role to play. However, aligning trade policy, procurement  frameworks and investment decisions with domestic production and recycling capacity remains a  complex challenge. The House of Lords Lunch provides a forum for open, informed discussion on  how these policy and market drivers can be better coordinated to support British-made and British recycled aluminium, while reducing exposure to global volatility.

For 2026, ALFED has extended the format of the House of Lords Lunch to allow for more in-depth  discussion and debate, greater opportunity for engagement between industry and policymakers, and  contributions from a broader range of stakeholders. The extended session reflects the growing  importance of the issues facing the sector and the need for sustained dialogue rather than headline level debate.

Discussion at the lunch will focus on growing domestic aluminium demand across UK infrastructure  and construction, strengthening trade resilience, improving scrap utilisation and circularity, and  aligning trade policy, procurement and investment to support UK industrial capability. Participants  will also explore how supply chain resilience and decarbonisation objectives can be advanced in  parallel.

The lunch will remain informal and discussion-led, enabling candid conversation and the sharing of  perspectives across the aluminium value chain. By bringing policymakers into direct dialogue with  industry, the event aims to support evidence-based policymaking that reflects real-world supply chain  dynamics, regional economic impact and long-term investment needs.

ALFED members are also encouraged to invite their local MPs to attend, helping to connect national  policy discussions with constituency-level industry realities and strengthen long-term engagement  between the sector and Parliament.

Further details, including the agenda and confirmed speakers, will be shared in due course. Increase Your Visibility
