It is with great disappointment that the UKIVA has taken the decision to cancel this year’s Machine Vision Conference & Exhibition (MVC) due to the coronavirus situation. Scheduled to take place on 14 May 2020, MVC was on course to be UKIVA’s largest event to date. However, as one of the great attractions of MVC is the Conference itself, the Association is delighted to announce that from 14 May, 2020, a FREE-to-access Technology Presentation Hub will be available at the event website, www.machinevision.co.uk. Not only that, MVC will return in Spring 2021 (date to be confirmed).
The outbreak and rapidly growing spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the UK and specific areas of mainland Europe has caused enormous disruption and uncertainly in many business communities. As an event organiser, UKIVA has a duty of care to its staff, exhibitors and visitors alike. With more and more travel restrictions being imposed across parts of western Europe, amid the World Health Organization’s concerns regarding the spread of the virus, and with many exhibitors and visitors expected to come from overseas, it was important to act early
The conference has always been designed to be educational and to appeal to visitors new to machine vision as well as machine vision experts and everybody in between. The Technology Presentation Hub initiative will provide registrants with access to many of the presentations that they would have seen on the day had the event gone ahead. Although pre-registration numbers for 2020 were already up compared to the same time last year, visitor registration will now remain open (www.machinevisionconference-2020.reg.buzz/) to enable even more people to sign-up so that they do not miss out on the Conference technical content.
