A cash injection from UK Steel Enterprise has created 120 new jobs for an engineering business based in Grangemouth, Scotland.
ID Systems provides the utilities sector with maintenance and manufacturing services with the new full time positions in the Central Belt secured thanks to funding from UK Steel Enterprise, a subsidiary of Tata Steel.
The firm sought the £375,000 (approx.) funding after securing a series of long term contracts, one of which was for the off-site manufacture of wastewater pumping stations for Scottish Water.
Iain Doherty, Managing Director at ID Systems, said that the deals had allowed the company to progress with its expansion plans that will increase its headcounts at existing sites in Glasgow and Grangemouth, as well as opening a new Lanarkshire base in 2017.
Rather than building a new facility in Lanarkshire, the firm is looking at moving into existing premises.
Doherty commented: Over the last year weâve been very successful in a number of frameworks that last anywhere from four to 12 years.
Thatâs allowing us to plan for strategic growth, mainly for offsite manufacturing.
The jobs created will be for both workshop staff and electrical and mechanical engineers, while the company has an aim of boosting its current headcount from 80 to 200 over the course of the next 18 months to two years.
Regional Executive for UK Steel Enterprise (UKSE), Scott Webb, said that having the ability and facilities to make items such as pumping stations on and off the site facility would bring more efficiency not only for ID Systems but also for a number of Scottish communities.
UKSE provides business loans of up to £750,000 to help with the regeneration of communities hit by the decline in the steel industry and was introduced to ID Systems by Glasgow accountancy company French Duncan.
