Really Useful Products, a manufacturing firm based in Normanton, is set to create 750 new jobs with its expansion plans, in conjunction with Lambert Smith Hampton.
Work has started on a new 13.3 acre purpose-built site in Wakefield as part of the companyâs expansion programme, which will create around 750 new jobs in the area and is set to quadruple the size of the firmâs UK business operations.
The company, which has a turnover of £40 million and operates across 13 countries, has chosen Lambert Smith Hampton as the company to be project manager of the four phase scheme.
The project will see a new six storey office building created along with a large storage and manufacturing facility. The office will feature one of the companyâs product lines in the design of the building.
At present, Barnfield Construction is working on the £11.5 million contract for the first phase of the project, which is the creation of a 204,000 sq ft factory.
The design of the new factory takes its inspiration from the world of fashion and feng shui consultants, while also aiming to achieve maximum energy efficiency.
Really Useful Products CEO, Mike Pickles, said that the companyâs existing site has no space for expansion, which meant their dream was the creation of a new manufacturing facility that will support the growth of the business.
Mr Pickles commented: As a business, we are constantly producing exciting and interesting product designs and we want our new facility to reflect this.
We have absolutely no building experience so we have engaged with Gayle Taylor from Lambert Smith Hampton, who is project managing the whole scheme for us and is bringing on-board the necessary contractors.
The first phase of the project is due to be complete in autumn of this year, while plans are in place to begin the second phase next year.13
