Newton Aycliffe plastics manufacturing firm, Primex Plastics Limited, has shared the success of apprenticeship training for its existing staff, stating that the process has improved their productivity.
The company operates a factory in Aycliffe and recently put seven of its employees through an apprenticeship in Performing Manufacturing Operations delivered by NECC Training.
The qualification is fully funded through the Skills Funding Agency and equips learners with team working skills, production monitoring and essential health and safety.
NECC Training Tutors paid a visit to Primex at its base in the Aycliffe Industrial Park to deliver the training that was tailored specifically to the plastics industry.
The course has been designed to deliver core English and maths skills to workers, while also boosting their manufacturing task ability.
Training Officer at Primex Plastics Limited, Adam Ferrer, said that the apprenticeship training had already made a tangible impact on the companyâs day to day operations.
Ferrer continued: Primex is keen to develop its workforce, and this apprenticeship programme has been of great benefit to the company and our employees.
The course has helped our staff develop stronger group working skills which really makes a difference to productivity on the factory floor.
Weâve seen renewed confidence and enthusiasm from the group â who are now better equipped to tackle the challenges of our workplace.
After the success of the scheme, Primex is now preparing to put a second batch of its staff through the Performing Manufacturing Operations apprenticeship, delivered by NECC Training.
Lindsey Thornton, NECC Trainingâs regional manager for engineering, said that Primex Plastics Limited is a prime example of a business that has seen immediate benefits from their apprenticeship training.
Primex Plastics Limited was established in 1998 and manufactures high quality plastics products that are moulded into a variety of end products such as childrenâs outdoor toys, automotive components and portable toilets.
