Cummins Chief Technical Officer Joins UK Advisory Council

Jonathan Wood

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has appointed the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of Cummins to act on an advisory board. Cummins CTO, Jonathan Wood, has joined the UK Department for Energy Security & Net Zero (DESNZ) Science and Technology Advisory Council (STAC).

Within this role, Jonathan Wood will provide independent advice on science, engineering, technology, and analysis to the department’s Chief Scientific Adviser, Prof Paul Monks CB.

The intention of the STAC is to act as a collaborative working group that can provide the department with innovative, creative, and practical advice to accelerate the UK’s energy transition to net zero.

Jonathan Wood, Chief Technical Officer (CTO) at Cummins, said: “Decarbonisation and energy security are some the most complex challenges and opportunities of our time. Accelerating the energy transition demands bold innovation, cross-sector collaboration and transparent knowledge sharing. It’s a privilege to now contribute to the UK’s clean energy mission as an independent member of this council. I’m looking forward to working with colleagues on the council to provide technical advice to ensure that science, policy and industry power progress together.”

Cummins exports its products globally and employs over 5000 people in the UK across 16 sites. This includes large manufacturing sites in Darlington, Daventry, Huddersfield and Cwmbran and a heavy duty battery research and development facility in Milton Keynes.
